Siarhei Antusevich: Falsification schemes became more sophisticated

There is no sense in voting at “elections”.

Siarhei Antusevich, a deputy chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions, said it in an interview with charter97.org.

“I was a member of the Hrdona city council ten years ago. The situation has worsened since then. I do not take part in the current election campaign. I can say that falsification schemes have become more sophisticated. In 2003, election commissions tried to count votes, but today members of commissions don't participate in the process. Everything was decided at the highest level. Members of future councils were already appointed,” he said.

The trade union activist notes even if an opposition candidate is elected, he or she won't be able to make decisions.

“For example, when I was a member of the Hrodna city council, I wasn't able to do anything. Every my initiative was blocked at sessions,” Siarhei Antusevich said.

“We should always remember and tell people there are no elections in Belarus and our votes are not counted,” he thinks.

None “elections” and 'referendums” in Belarus have been recognised by international organisations since 1995.
