Russia cuts diplomatic relations with Ukraine

Moscow does not recognise the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian authorities.

The statement was made by Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin, the UN News Centre reports.

This decision [to break off diplomatic ties] was taken, because Moscow does not recognise the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian power, UNIAN news agency quotes Churkin.

“Moscow does not recognise the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian power, that it why they break off the diplomatic relations with Ukraine,” he said.
