Belarusian Ambassador was shown the door in Brussels

The representative of official Minsk was not allowed to attend the Euronest session.

The meeting where the situation in Belarus is discussed has taken place today. Representatives of the Belarusian opposition are taking part in the discussion, as well as Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei. However the miister had not arrived to the session, but sent an ambassador instead, the United Civil Party press service informs.

“We had not invited the ambassador,” stated the presiding Jacek Sariusz-Wolski. “So he was denied an opportunity to participate in the today’s discussion.”

The Polish MP noted: “The European Parliament does not admit legitimacy of the Belarusian “chamber of representatives.” And it is our principled stand.”

To his mind, today “the future of the Eastern Partnership is uncertain. Russian military veto on this project exists.”

The leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, who is taking part in the session of the Euronest, comments this discussion in the following way: “When there is no indifference, a discussion is always meaningful, full of emotion, and which is more important, search for solutions is present. I am trying to persuade the European Parliament and the EU that Ukraine and Belarus could not be taken separately today. A common strategy is needed there. Besides, an understanding is essential that without fair free election changes in Belarus are impossible. And the third issue which is relevant at the moment is “Fairplay-2014 Campaign”. It is a campaign of solidarity with political prisoners, a campaign of pressure on Belarusian authorities before the Ice Hockey Championship, where the international element is of a great importance.”
