Ukrainians dig trenches near Belarusian border

Ukrainian authorities reinforce the border of the country on the supposition of invasion from the North.

It is informed by a journalist of “Brestsky kurjer” Ihar Nabojchanka.

“On my way back from Ukraine, when leaving the border-crossing point Novye Yarilovychy (Chernihiv region) in the direction of the Belarusian border I noticed the objects which had not been there most recently,” he writes. “New firing points surrounded by sacks with sand and camouflaged by pine branches appeared on the both sides of the road. Their field of fire was in Belarusian direction. However it was noticeable that the defences had been made not for military operations, but rather following an order.”

The journalist notes that Ukrainian border guards are on combat alert now and are carrying pistols and machine guns.

We remind that a week ago military drills of Ukrainian army in the settlement of Desna Chernihiv region were held. It is situated just a few dozen of kilometres from the border of Belarus. A training centre of Ukrainian Land Forces is situated there. Oleksandr Turchynov, the current Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament and acting President of Ukraine was present during the drills.
