Russian saboteurs detained in Donetsk region

Detention facilities are overcrowded with detained extremists and saboteurs.

The anti-terror operation in the Donetsk region shows results despite some problems, TSN reports.

Dmytry Tymchuk, the coordinator of the Information Resistance Group, shares new information. Unable to have large-scale actions due to a high probability of casualties among civilians, the law-enforcement agencies carry out targeted operations, Tymchuk wrote on Facebook on April 17.

“Representatives of extremists groups, as well as saboteurs from Russia, are being detained in the region. There's a problem with free cells in detention facilities in the towns, where the detained extremists and saboteurs are taken to,” Tymchuk said. According to him, military commanders find important the fact that an attack of the extremists on a military base in Mariupol was repelled.

Mariupol is supposed to play a key role in the formation of a “terrorist corridor” to give Russian subversive groups access to the territory of Ukraine, Tymchuk notes.

Russian subversive groups and local separatists began to seize administration buildings in eastern Ukraine on April 6. They also take over security service offices and police stations that have armouries.

The Ukrainian authorities decided to launch an anti-terror operation in the country's east. Troops and military equipment were sent to the Donbass region.

The airport near Kramatork in the north of the Donetsk region, which had been seized by Russian saboteurs and separatists, was freed on April 15.

On April 17, Ukrainian troops repelled the attack on the military base in Mariupol, in the south of the Donetsk region, conducted by separatists under command of officers of Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate. Three attackers were killed, more than 60 people were detained.
