Boris Nemtsov: Putin admitted he cannot win referendum without army

One of the leaders of the Russian opposition has commented on the live TV phone-in with president Putin.

In particular, Boris Nemtsov attracted attention to the surprising confession of Vladimir Putin that the “referendum” in Crimea was held after the invasion of the Russian army. He has written about that in his facebook account.

“After many weeks of unashamed lies Putin admitted that Russian military were backing the Crimean self-defence forces, as otherwise it was impossible to hold a referendum in a honest way. Soon there will be a day when he is to admit the same for eastern Ukraine.

The most “charming” thing in his words is that it’s impossible to hold a referendum honestly without troops. And such a man is in command of the gigantic country,” Boris Nemtsov says.

We remind that during the live TV phone-in Russia’s president stated that Russian military forces were used in Crimea. “Russian military were backing Crimean self-defence forces. “They acted very appropriately, but as I’ve already said decisively and professionally,” Vladimir Putin stated during the live TV phone-in today.
