SBU thwarted subversion of Russia’s secret service

3

The FSB (Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation ) had planned to charge Ukraine with transfer of weapons to terrorists in Russia.

“The counter-intelligence of the Ukrainian Security Service has uncovered and stopped intelligence and subversive activities of Russian secret services, aimed to harm international image of our state,” the report of the SBU reads.

In 2012 a FSB colonel Alexei Chepik recruited a citizen of Ukraine “O”. In January-February this year Chepik gave the recruited an assignment to establish a contact with activists and leaders of UNA-UNSO (the Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense) and to carry out trafficking of small arms to Russian Federation under a control of the FSB.

According to the plan of Russian secret services, after liquidation of the “purchasers”, it was planned to bring charges against Ukraine at the international level. Ukraine was to be charged with trafficking weapons to terrorist organisations in Russia.
