Mikhail Khodorkovsky: Putin seeks revenge on Ukraine for personal offence

The forum “Ukraine-Russia: Dialogue” opened in Kyiv.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky, ex-Yukos CEO, said at the forum “Ukraine-Russia: Dialogue”:

“Ukraine is in a difficult situation, but I don't believe the people, who have survived two revolutions for the last two decades and didn't give up the Maidan under bullets, are ready to accept the loss of statehood, which means that we have all grounds not only for concerns, but also for optimism. We have gathered here because we are angry at the Russian state propaganda lying to its citizens. We want to tell people what we see with our own eyes and what he hear here. The saddest thing for us, the Russians, is that president Putin does not solve the global strategic tasks. He again, this time in Ukraine, uses his power to take revenge for his personal offence. He took offence at the revolution, the ousting of former president Yanukovych, who is a thief, and his corrupted cronies.”

Crimea was occupied by Russian troops in March.

Russian subversive groups and local separatists began to seize administration buildings in Ukraine's east on April 6. They also take over police stations and security council buildings with armories.

The Ukrainian authorities took a decision to launch an anti-terror operation in the country's eastern regions. Troops and military equipment were sent to the Donbass region.
