Is NTV journalist from Belarus detained near Dnipropetrovsk?

An employee of the company which produces “Tsentralnoe televidenie” new program (Russia) has disappeared in Ukraine.

It has been reported by NTV channel.

As stated by the TV channel, on Tuesday a producer Stepan Chirich left for Pershotravinsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, where he was to film a newsreel about a visit of a protestant minister Bob Larson to Ukraine as a part of worldwide tour. Since Wednesday morning “Tsentralnoe televidenie” producer was not available on the phone any more.

Meanwhile, yesterday reports have appeared in Ukrainian press about saboteurs detained in Dnipropetrovsk region. “Passports of citizens of Belarus were found by them, though many things show that they belong to Russian intelligence service.”

As NTV believes, these two reports, about disappearance of “Tsentralnoe televidenie” producer and detention of saboteurs are connected. Moreover, the disappeared TV-program producer Stepan Chirich, who is a staff member of the company, really has Belarusian citizenship.

Vadim Takmenev, the head of the TV program “TT”, has stated that NTV channel finds “all these events originated in a misunderstanding” and hope that in the nearest future their colleague would be able to return home.

A journalist Yury Butusov was the first to inform about detention of the two saboteurs near Dnipropetrovsk.

“Their actions had been filmed by a video camera. The diversionists had cover identification documents, passports of Belarus. The both infiltrators have been handed over to SBU representatives in Dnipropetrovsk region for further investigation activities (last week Ukraine’s acting President Oleksandr Turchynov appointed a new head of the SBU (the Security Service of Ukraine) in the region, a knowledgeable expert and a patriot, that is why unlike Luhansk, saboteurs are to be discovered there, they would not be allowed to enter the region). In the nearest future more detailed information is to be publicized,” the journalist writes.
