Štefan Füle: Customs Union erodes Belarus and Kazakhstan’s sovereignty

The Customs Union erodes sovereignty of certain countries.
It has been stated by Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Commissioner Štefan Füle on April 3, euplus.info writes.
“It (the Customs Union) erodes sovereignty and is based upon economic and trade relations which are depending on subsidies controlled by Gazprom and the Kremlin. Political cooperation is based on Moscow’s demands. And the events in Crimea, the illegal referendum and annexation, which are much regretted by me, are another confirmation to that,” he said.
Besides, the EU commissioner stressed that the Association agreement offered to Ukraine by the European Union, is on the contrary to increase sovereignty of the country and promote needed economic and political reforms.
The Eurasian Economic Union which is to unite Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, could be created as early as in May 2014. It is to further develop the economic integration of these countries.
