Vytautas Landsbergis: By annexing Crimea, Russia walked out of UN

Russia seeks hegemony for in Europe.

It has been stated by the honorary chairman of the Homeland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats of Lithuania Vytautas Landsbergis.

“It is strange that Russia is considered the United Nations member, as it has walked out of this organisation judging by its actions,” Landsbergis stated during the assembly of the party, where the political situation in the country and in the world had been considered,” ru.delfi.lt informs.

“The world order which had been defined by the UN Charter and other international charters and conventions has been thrown into a trash bin,” Landsbergis added.

“Crimea is an intermediate station, as Russia is heading towards hegemony in Europe,” he said.

According to the politician, Russia’s aim is to distance Europe from the US influence. Besides, Landsbergis attracted attention to the fact that the present posture of affairs could have been predicted in the late 80ies already, when use of force followed economic sanctions.
