Pawel Kowal: West falters in response to Russian aggression

Crimea is not a full stop to the conflict, it is its epicenter, and everything could be in the future.

Such an opinion of a European deputy from Poland Pawel Kowal has been expressed on Tuesday on air of TVN24 TV channel.

“It is possible that we thought that the conflict’s peak is over, but it seems to me that we are before it,” the politician noted.

According to him, a great error had been committed in London, Berlin, Paris or in the US, by believing the assurances of Russian president Vladimir Putin that he would stop in Crimea and would not bring troops into continental Ukraine.

The politician is also convinced that the West didn’t act decisively enough in response to Russian aggression in Crimea. In particular, he accused the West of not breaking the military cooperation with Russia completely, but suspended weapons transfers, and the US have not imposed sanctions in the sphere of technologies and finances.

We remind that in the end of February 2014 administrative buildings on the territory of the peninsula were seized by Russian troops, and in half a month its illegal authorities held a referendum”, according to its results Putin signed into the law Crimea’s integration into Russia.
