The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained on April 8 a female Russian citizen who performed the tasks of the special services to destabilize the situation in the southern regions of Ukraine, the SBU press center reported on Wednesday.

The report states that the detainee, Maria Kaleda, born in 1991, arrived in Kherson on April 4 this year. According to Koleda, this was her ninth trip to Ukraine.

"On April 5-6, the foreigner held several meetings with the leaders and activists of pro-Russian movements in Kherson and also visited some district centers in the region to monitor the situation on the ground," reads the report.

In addition, according to SBU, on April 7, Koleda was directly involved in clashes outside the building of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, during which she used firearms, and as a result, she said, she wounded three people. After these events, she, hiding, returned to Kherson region.

The SBU said that on April 8, Koleda reported to her "supervisor in Russia on the possession by activists" of improvised explosive devices "in an unlimited amount" and on the agreement reached on their getting firearms. She also said that two subversive groups (seven people from Kherson and six from Nova Kakhovka) were preparing to leave for Donetsk to participate in the riots.

"Koleda also received an instruction to find out the status of armament of officers of the State Border Service of Ukraine on Crimea's border with the mainland Ukraine and the possibility of persons, denied entry into Ukraine by SBU, getting into Crimea, legally or bypassing the checkpoints," the press center said.

During her detention, SBU officers seized from the Russian a pistol reequipped to fire live rounds of ammunition, as well as guidelines for the training of subversive groups.
