Belarusian enterprises lack working capital

Two thirds of Belarusian enterprises have problems with working capital.

It can be concluded from the monitoring of real sector enterprises made by the National Bank of Belarus on the ground of the March poll among almost 2,000 enterprises, BelaPAN news agency reports.

“According to estimates by respondents, the number of enterprises lacking working capital increased in March 2014 in comparison with February 2014 – 62.9% in March against 61.7% of enterprises a month ago,” the analytical review of the National Bank reads.

35.1% of enterprises said they had enough working capital. Their number a month ago was 35.8%.

“The share of enterprises with insufficient working capital in construction sector was 71% (against 68.3% in February), in transport sector – 67.6% (64.7% in February), in industry – 64.2% (63.6% in February), in trade – 52.7% (52.9% in February),” the document notes.

The respondents name working capital and manufacturing contracts as two main factors that influence the utilisation capacity.

By estimate of the National Bank, the average term of supply of orders decreased in the first quarter of 2014 in comparison with the same period in 2013. The share of enterprises having contacts for more than a month of work rose to 35.3% (36.4% in manufacturing industry).
