Political prisoner Lobau confessed sins in presence of policeman

In Ivatsevichy penal colony Eduard Lobau was visited by a priest.

It was not the first meeting with the Young Front member in prison for Father Dzmitry. As the previous conversations, this one took place in presence of a uniformed guard of the colony. It has been told by the mother of the political prisoner, Maryna Lobava, Radio Svaboda reports.

“The priest arrived, and the meeting took place, however, as usual, some officer, an employee of the colony, was present. And naturally, it was in the same format as before. For instance, during the confession that man was standing behind, and heard everything. They didn’t have a chance to have a one-on-one meeting, he was not allowed that,” she said.

Maryna Lobava reminded that her son has a status of a malicious violator of the prison regulations, and it is regularly extended for him by new penalties for alleged violations.

“It is done so that he could be additionally punished any time, and to impose preventive surveillance after release, like it was done for other political prisoners,” Lobau’s mother explained.

We remind that Eduard Lobau together with the chairman of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich was detained in Minsk on December 18, 2010. Their arrest was a preventive operation organised by security bodies and police ahead of the presidential “elections”, which were held next day.

On March 24, 2011, Minsk's Maskouski district court sentenced Eduard Lobau to 4 years in a maximum security correctional facility under part 3 of article 339 of the Criminal Code (malicious hooliganism).
