The book “Mercuric Silver of Life” is dedicated to the events of 2010 – 2011 in Belarus.

“The book reflects two years in the life of Ales and Viasna human rights centre. He started to write it in September 2012 and finished in June 2013. The book consists of chapters, each is in fact a letter from Ales, reminiscence about some events of this period. I am very glad that it has been published, and he is expecting for it. Actually, it is a life story of Ales in this period, it’s a history of Viasna and of the rntire human rights sector an even the history of entire Belarus in these hard years,” she noted.
We remond that on November 24, 2011 the court found Ales Bialatski guilty in tax evasion. He was sentenced to four and a half years in high security penal colony and the confiscation of property. The reason for that were bank account in banks of Lithuania and Poland. The court ignored that the money from these bank accounts were used for the activities of the Viasna human rights center and the support of political prisoners.
