Belarusian authorities will borrow another $500 million for nuclear power plant

The Council of Ministers and Vnesheconombank signed an agreement on loan provision for constructing a nuclear power plant in Astraviec.

The government of Belarus, state corporation “Bank for development and foreign economic activities (Vnesheconombank)” (Russia) and a public corporation “Belvnesheconombank” signed a credit contract in Minsk today, under which Belarus receives a loan for financing the advance payments on the general contract for the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA reports.

The decision on opening a new credit line for the government of Belarus for the amount of $500 million for up to 8 years (4 out of which include preferential conditions) was taken by Vnesheconombank’s supervisory board on 19 December 2013.
