Correctional officers forbid political prisoner Vaskovich to read books

The authorities of Mahilou prison No. 4 refused to accept a parcel of books for Yauhen Vaskovich.

The authorities of Minsk, Babruisk and Mahilou banned pickets to support political prisoner Yauhen Vaskovich, the press service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD) reports.

The mother of the political prisoner says she received back the parcel of books, which she had sent her son. The books were sent back with the stamp “not allowed”.

Yauhen Vaskovich, Artsiom Prakapenka and Pavel Syramolatau were tried together. Vaskovich was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment for an attempt to set the doors of the KGB department in Babruisk on fire. He was thrown into a punishment cell several times. He was transferred from a correctional facility to prisoner No. 4 in Mahilou for “persistent violations of prison rules”.
