Stanislau Shushkevich: There will be no presidential election in Belarus

There's no sense in looking for a “single opposition candidate”.

Stanislau Shushkevich, the first head of independent Belarus, said it in an interview with Radio Racyja. According to him, it doesn't matter whether it will be one candidate or ten, the “election” will be held under a well-thought-out scenario.

“It's early to speak about a single candidate. I am looking at the current events and see that there will be no election. Choosing a single candidate is like throwing everything in the garbage. The position of the Central Election Committee, this disgusting monster, doesn't allow us to expect that we will have elections. There will be no election. All think the same about it. All want to change the regime, but there are people wanting to receive something for it. They can talk, find grounds and write about it,” Stanislau Shushkevich said.
