Policeman to activist: Just have mercy, open the door

An opposition activist Dzmitry Palienka has posted on the internet an audio file, his conversation with a policeman who came to arrest him.

The guy was searched for to be arrested the day before May 9. But he refused to let the policeman enter, and they conducted the dialogue through the shut door, “Nasha Niva” writes.

- Do you want to be put into prison for a long time tomorrow?

- To be put where?

- Into prison. Do you know what a day is tomorrow? May 9.

- So what?

- We have information that you are going to do mischief tomorrow.

- You also had information that I was going to do something of Freedom Day.

- We did that on Freedom Day to be on the safe side…

The activist was promised 2 days’ arrest in case he comes to the police department of his own free will. But Dzmitry Palienka refused. Then policemen used a trick.

“They switched off electricity. I asked my father to leave the flat and switch on. And as soon as he opened the door, four policemen broke in and they dragged me outside. I was taken to the police department in Angarskaya Street, then to the court, then to the police department of Zavadski district, then to the detention centre. I was sentenced to 10 days. Allegedly I was swearing and swinging arms. They threatened they could add I was rebelliuos,” he said.

Palienka noted that policemen were not in uniform, they didn’t show their IDs. And the person who talked to him, presented himself as a district policeman. However, as the young man says, he has a different district policeman. The same man arrested the guy the previous time, on March 24. Then Dzmitry was offered a deal: to sign the protocol and be arrested for 2 days. But finally he was sentenced to 13 days behind the bars.

“They promised that I would stay in prison until March 26. A report was drawn up, and according to it I was to pay a fine. I trusted them, and I signed. And then they took me to the court,” he said.

Earlier to that the guy was detained for spraying a graffiti. Then he was beaten up at the police department.
