Jury Rubcou: Policemen didn’t return “Lukashenka, go away” T-shirt

After having been released from jail an activist from Homiel Jury Rubcou was taken to the railway station by policemen.

Around 19.30 on 21 May a Homiel resident Jury Rubcou was released from the jail in Akrescina Street, the human rights center Viasna reports.

Police took him to the railway station and there released. At that time the activist’s friends and comrades were waiting for him near the prison walls.

“They took the T-shirt from me and never returned, now I will somehow get back to Homiel”, - Jury Rubcou said on the phone in the evening. There is no more details yet, since the Homiel resident asked a random passerby for phone to make the call.

We would remind that the Investigatory Committee of Minsk Soviet district is carrying out an investigation over the fact of Homiel resident Jury Rubcou’s insult addressed to a judge Kiryl Palulekh.

After the annual manifestation Chernobyl Shlakh, in which Rubcou participated wearing a T-shirt with a writing “Lukashenka, go away”, the activist was detained by police. On 28 April the judge of Minsk Soviet district Kiryl Palulekh took the decision to punish Rubcou with a 25-day arrest for “insubordination to legitimate demands of an official” and “disorderly conduct”.

Jury Rubcou was taken to court without the T-shirt, which policemen took away while detaining the activist. During the proceeding Rubcou, indignant at the unjust trial, in judge’s opinion allegedly said the word “bastard”, addressed to the judge.

The investigation will show, whether criminal charges get brought against the activist.
