Layoffs in Healthcase Ministry is another trick of Belarusian authorities?

Laid off officials will get similar positions.

Charter97.org spoke with a sonographer of a Minsk medical centre, who wished to remain anonymous.

– The number of staff of the Healthcare Minustry's central office has been cut. As many as 40 people have been laid off in the last two months. Can we say that the number of bureaucrats was really reduced?

– I don't think it is a global change. Such layoffs, as a rule, lead to appointing the dismissed people to similar positions. I've never seen a chief physician going to work at a district hospital after the layoff or retirement.

– So, it is the ordinary reshuffle, isn't it? Officials just change their seats.

– Exactly. This is another reshuffle and a trick of the Belarusian authorities. By the way, it is the second illusion we see in recent months. The first one was the so called increase in salaries for paramedics. It's worth noting that most of accountants and economists were not laid off. It seems that have things to count. For example, a polyclinic with 150 employees has four accountants, who have fixed bonuses. At the same time, a freelance accountant work for three or four firms with the same total number of staff.
