Playing songs of “blacklisted” musicians is forbidden at Minsk Arena.
Vadzim Kryvayaz, a disk jockey at Minsk Arena, told by.tribuna.com how he made a playlist for the ice hockey world championship.
“I tries to use national elements in the playlist. I wanted to add more Belarusian singers to support our team: Bez Bileta, Sasha Nemo, Leprikonsy and so on. The are only few good Belarusian bands... A song about hockey is released in Belarusian, but it has the words 'I drink moonshine'... How can I play it? Of course, I want to hear more Belarusian groups and the Belarusian language... But we don't have many such songs. It's clear that Lyapis Trubetskoy and N.R.M. were forbidden,” he said.
The blacklist of Belarusian musicians include famous bands Lyapis Trubetskoy, Neuro Dubel, Krambambula, N.R.M., singer-songwriter Zmitser Vaitsiushkevich and others. The blacklisted musicians cannot play concerts and appear on the radio or television.
