Ukrainian special forces smashed large group of terrorists near Slovyansk

Militants tried to break away from the blocked town.

The details of the today’s fight in Slovyansk were revealed by the editor-in-chief of Censor.net news outlet Yury Butusov on his facebook account. “In a severe fight Ukrainian special forces smashed a large grouping of terrorists, which attempted to break away from Slovyansk which is encircled by our troops.

According to sources in the headquarters of the anti-terrorist operation, several hundred bandits attacked positions of our units, and were thrown back by reserves suffering huge losses. A considerable amount of the newest Russian weapons which are in service with the General Staff of the Armed Forces' Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia has been seized on the battlefield. The battlefield is ours now, at the moment a mopping-up operation is carried out, and the battle abated just 30 minutes ago,” he wrote.

The journalist writes that professionalism and heroism of Omega and Jaguar special force units of the Interior Affairs Ministry, and Alfa task force of the Security Service of Ukraine were decisive in the battle.

“Unfortunately, our troops suffered great losses in the tough fight,” Butusov writes. “4 Ukrainian military died, 1 is in a critical condition. About 20 of our fighters are wounded, they have been offered medical assistance, they are evacuated by helicopters to the nearest hospitals. May the memory of the heroes slain in the battle for freedom and independence of our Motherland live forever!”

We remind that the combat operations near the TV tower in Slovyansk started early on Monday.
