Mass arrests ahead of Ice Hockey World Championship

Opposition activists, who were detained in Homel and Minsk, will be tried today.

The press service of Young Front reports:

The Young Front activists, who were detained lately, will stand trial today. Andrei Tsianiuta will be tried in Homel. Mikalai Dziamidzenka will be tried in Minsk in the Frunzenski district court, Mikhail Muski and Zmitser Kramianetski will stand trial in the Leninski district court.

The Young Front members were detained yesterday night. Mikalai Dziamidzenka and Mikhail Muski spent the night in the detention centre in Akrestsin Street. Zmitser Kramianetski was held at the Leninski district police station, Andrei Tsianiuta in a detention facility in Homel.

The police have detained 20 opposition activists in the last two weeks. Human rights defenders explain the arrests by the Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk.
