Martin Uggla detained at Minsk airport

The head of Sweden-based human rights organisation Östgruppen has been detained at the national airport in Minsk.

Östgruppen head Martin Uggla, who planned to visit Belarus, was detained in the transit area at Minsk National Airport.

The information was received from Viasna human rights centre.

Border guards told the human rights defender he was denied entry to Belarus. They continue talks with higher officers.

Swedish human rights organisation Östgruppen, headed by Martin Uggla, is among the initiators of the international campaign “Don't Play with the Dictator” against holding the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk.
