A Russian military and patriotic TV channel “Zvezda” (“Star”) is launched in Belarus.

On May 7 the chairman of the board of the creative association “Red Star” (“Krasnaya Zvezda”, Moscow) Alexander Orlov informed that the Russian military and patriotic TV channel “Zvezda” starts its broadcasting, BelaPAN informs.

He said that the TV channel had been created in 2005 and is a part of media assets of the Defence Ministry of Russia, the majority of which had been consolidated in a media holding. It has four directions of work: TV and radio broadcasting, film production, printed mass media and internet with launching their own information agency. About half a year ago “Red Star” media holding was topped by a Russian journalist, producer, director and a TV presenter Aleksei Pimanov.

As said by Orlov, “the TV division” is the most dynamically developing branch in the holding. And Belarus is among the priorities in extending the holding’s broadcasting.

As for the plans of broadcasting in Belarus, on May 8 a test launching of the Russian version of the TV channel is to take place. Test broadcasting will take place through cable networks MTIS, Cosmos TV and Beltelekom (ZALA), the representative of “Zvezda” said.
