Police forbids Finnish journalists to question Minsk dwellers

The filming crew of Finnish TV channel YLE was hindered in interviewing Minsk dwellers.

It has been reported by Belsat TV channel.

On May 8 the crew was making an interview in the streets of the Belarusian capital. The journalists asked Minsk citizens not only about sports, but about the life in our country in general. A police tour of duty ordered employees of the Finnish TV, including the well-known sports commentator Kaj Kunnas to stop filming and leave the site near the Palace of Sports.

The direction of the TV channel states that the authorities of Belarus hinder the work of journalists, that is why they are considering revoking of their filming crew in protest.

In Belarus the former presidential candidates Mikalai Statkevich, Vice President of the International Federation of Human Rights Ales Bialiatski and 7 more political prisoners stay behind the bars. Besides, over the last two weeks policemen detained more than 20 activists of opposition. Human rights activists link the arrests with the Ice Hockey World Championship held in Minsk.
