Minsk shops to be “cleaned up” of foreign goods in a week

It is planned to make the share of Belarusian goods in Minsk shops equal to 85% over a week.

Interfax-Zapad agency has been informed about that in the trade and services department of Minsk city executive committee.

“Shops are entrusted with a task and given a term, one week, to increase the share of Belarusian goods in the assortment to 85%,” the department informed.

Officials of Minsk city executive committee noted that the task concerns both and goods. “We really have a very well developed industry, light and food industry. There is critical import certainly, and we cannot do without it. But in general possibilities of the Belarusian industry allow us to raise the share of Belarusian goods to 85%,” they explained.

According to the expert, this task does not look impossible, as average share of Belarusian goods in Minsk shops today is about 75%. “We just should put more effort in that,” the department of trade and services representatives said.

Speaking about a possible failure to fulfill the task by certain retail trade entities, Minsk city executive committee noted that measures of administrative liability are likely to be used against them in accordance with the law.

As it has been informed, on June 19 at the consultations on issues of further development of consumer market in Minsk held in Minsk city executive committee, a task to increase the share of Belarusian goods in the assortment of goods in shops up to 85% was set. Participants of the consultations noted that in all shops there are possibilities to increase sales of Belarusian goods.

At the session of the ministry in late May the Minister of Trade of Belarus Valyantsin Chakanau ordered the department of trade and services and the chief directorate of consumer market of Minsk city executive committee to take measures to considerably increase the volume of Belarusian goods in the retail network of Mink. The reason is that for a number of years the capital has the lowest quantity of such goods in the retail turnover as compared to other regions.
