Trade Ministry “mopping up” shopping centres

Inspections of shopping centres held by the Trade Ministry have detected “numerous violations in realization of consumer goods.”

It has been informed by the press-service of the agency.

In June “the mopping up operation” was held in shopping centres “Zerkalo”, “Passage”, “Silhouette”, “Evropa”. More than 100 different products imported to Belarus were controlled: toys, children’s footwear, knitted and sewn products so on.

“The preliminary results show that there are violations of safety and quality rules: footwear does not conform to technical requirements, customers are misinformed about manufacture date and materials (it is written natural skin on the label, while shoes are made of artificial material), absence of caution signs on children’s toys and so on. On some cases there were defects found which could potentially cause harm to health of customers. No special knowledge was needed for that, visual check of the item was enough,” the report of the ministry reads.
