The consul of Ukraine met with the member of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, who had been detained in Minsk.
Oleksandr Bryhynets wrote about it on Facebook.
“The consul has just visited me. Both the consulate and I are indignant with the strange behaviour of the Belarusian authorities, who cannot even show the document to explain my detention, the confiscation of my diplomatic passport, the ban to enter Belarus, my isolation in a guarded room and the confiscation of my passport. We are supposed to believe words of a captain. Several cameras are monitoring me. There are no cameras in the toilet. It is stuffy in the room, and local TV channels don't say anything about politics in the news: Ukraine and Donbas do not exist for Belarusian television,” Oleksnadr Bryhynets writes.
The MP spent the night locked in a room at the airport.
“I am waiting for the morning. The embassy is to present a note to the Belarusian authorities regarding the illegal actions against me. I am waiting for the air company chiefs to come to work and give a command to change my ticket to Moscow for a ticket to Kyiv or another city.
I'd like to remind everyone that Snowden, when he was not allowed to enter Russia, could walk in the transit zone freely. As you can see, Belarus has moved further. It begins a war with everybody it dislikes, just in case,” he noted.
Oleksandr Bryhynets arrived in Minsk from Kyiv at 20:59 on July 16 with an official delegation of MPs and human rights defenders. They were going to get to Voronezh via Minsk and Moscow. The delegation plans to meet with lawyers of Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, who had been kidnapped by separatists in Ukraine's east and sent to Russia. She is held in a detention facility in Voronezh.
