Vital Rymasheuski: Lukashenka takes revenge on Ukraine for special customs duties

The deportation of the parliament member Bryhynets is the dictator’s nervous reaction to Kyiv’s introduction of special customs duties on Belarusian goods.

Such an opinion came from charter97.org’s interview with the co-chairman of the organizational committee for creation of the party Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski as he commented on the deportation of the Ukrainian parliament member Oleksandr Bryhynets.

“The Lukashenka regime acts here as the Kremlin’s puppet and, certainly, Bryhynets was detained upon an FSB order. Apart from that, such a nervous reaction of Lukashenka may be explained by Ukraine having introduced special duties on Belarusian goods in response to Minsk’s restrictive measures”, - the politician reckons.

Vital Rymasheuski emphasized that Ukrainian authorities and people should not let themselves go under delusion as to the dictator in Belarus.

“As we know, there are Lukashenka’s words and there are deeds. Very often these deeds directly contradict his words. That is why, on the one hand, there may be talks about Ukraine being a friend, on the other – the deployment of Russia’s heavy military equipment in Belarus and orchestrated introduction of economic sanctions against Ukraine.

That is why I would advise Ukrainian authorities to assess Lukashenka and other politicians not by the word, buy by the action. I think, in the recent half a year Ukrainians have learnt a practical lesson in political science. So if they have any kind of euphoria around the Belarusian ruler, it will quickly vanish after these events”, - BChD’s co-chairman concluded.

We would remind that Oleksandr Bryhynets was detained yesterday in the evening at the Minsk airport and then deported from Belarus. The member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada arrive in Minsk from Kyiv on 16 July as a member of an official parliament delegation (from Ukraine and Poland) and human rights activists, which was going to Voronezh via Minsk and Moscow. The delegation plans on meeting the lawyer of the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who was abducted by separatists in the east of Ukraine and transported to Russia. She is now in jail in Voronezh. The Kyiv delegation is going to meet Savchenko as well as be present at the court’s proceedings.
