Another round of the Belarusian championship is marked with protests of football players.
Players of Torpedo-BelAZ appeared on the field in the match against Shakhtyor (0-1) wearing shirts with a question mark on the back and the text “Does Zhodzina need football?”, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi writes.
The protest is said to be caused by the unstable situation in the club.
“Yes, our players did it,” Mikahil Khlus, the director of Torpedo-BelAZ, said. “Unfortunately, the club owes money to the players. There are many reasons, among them insufficient aid from sponsors. The money earned on advertising and ticket sales is not enough for all. A part of salaries is paid according to the budget rules. Under these rules, they delay is about four or six weeks. If we count the whole salary, the debt will be larger. The founders of the club try to solve the issue and promise that all debts will be paid and everything will stabilise.”
The situation is clear. Belarus's truck manufacturer is in the red according to the results of the first half of the year. According to the Ministry of Finance, the losses were 12 million dollars in the first three months. Can they care about football in this situation?
