Lukashenka finds foothold in Africa

Belarus and Mozambique have agreed to cooperate, but have not decided in what particular area.

“Recently we have been looking for the foothold in Africa, the states with which we could cooperate to the advantage of these states and Belarus. In our opinion, Mozambique could be one of such states,” Lukashenka said at the meeting with Prime Minister of Mozambique Alberto Vaquina.

And to make assurance double sure, he pressed the Soviet nostalgic button, AFN writes.

“We know Mozambique very well since the Soviet times, and we have a certain history of the bilateral relations. It would be a sin not to use this experience,” the Belarusian leader said, not specifying however what prevented him from using this experience earlier in the recent 20 years.

In response Alberto Vaquina said nothing about natural resources deposits, however he touched upon the topic which is preferred by Belarusian propagandists.

“There are many areas where Belarus and Mozambique could cooperate, including agriculture and production of agricultural equipment,” the guest from Africa said.
