Russian media: In nearest 48 hours Russia may start “peacemaking operation” in Ukraine

They refer to sources in Russian MFA.

In the evening on Thursday an interlocutor of the Russian Znak.Com web-site, close to the MFA top-level officials, said he did not rule out the option that Russia would start a “peacemaking operation” in the territory of Ukraine’s east within the coming two days.

“There is such an option… The situation is difficult. Two days ago Petro Poroshenko (Ukraine’s president) was suggested that the conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk regions was frozen for several months, and that the rebels and Ukrainian army both cease the fire. At the same time Russia would recognize neither DPR, nor LPR. Poroshenko did not accept the plan, peaceful citizens die every day. A peacemaking operation on the part of Russia is prepared; if it starts, several Russian military units will simply encircle large cities for protection in order to ensure the security of peaceful citizens”, - the media’s source said.
