Residents of Barysau find indignant the fact that a Russian flag flies over a house.
Anatol Askerka from Barysau said it to the local website barysau.by.
“Russia is an aggressor that instigated a in Ukraine. Russia acted like a thief to annex Crimea while Ukraine was in a difficult situation. It sent its militants to terrorise the Donbass region,” he is convinced. “A Russian flag in Barysau is an outrageous fact. I don't want to see it every day in my windows. The war to destroy Ukraine began with Russian flags in Sevastopol, Donetsk and Luhansk. I don't want Belarus to repeat this fate.
Let people do whatever they want with flags at home – pin them to the wall, put it under the head, use it as a tablecloth. But they should not irritate the residents of Barysau who regard Russia not just as a neighbour, but as a war. It's interesting to note that people are jailed for the Belarusian national white-red-white flag, but no one punishes them for the aggressor's flag.”
Anatol Askerka talked to the owner of house No. 74 in Dymko Street. The woman says she hung the Russian flag for no reason. She claims she would raise a Georgian or Armenian flag if she had them. She refuses to remove the Russian flag, but fears to raise a Belarusian one, because, as she says, the authorities forbid to do it.
