Czech Foreign Ministry: Our support to democratic forces of Belarus is unswerving

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek met with the Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski.

On August 5 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek had a meeting with the Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, the first winner of the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize, who received this prestigious prize during his term in prison, “Viasna” human rights centre writes.

“I am glad that you are free,” the website of the Foreign Ministry quotes Minister Zaorálek, who welcomed Ales Bialiatski in Prague. He added: “I would like to assure you that our support of democratic forces in Belarus is unswerving, and we take it seriously. I wish you that there will be a growing number of free thinking and pro-European people in your country.”

During the conversation Ales Bialiatski told, among other things, about the situation with human rights, political freedoms in Belarus in the run-up to the presidential election in 2015.
