Linkevičius: Putin acts inconsistently and illogically

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevičius, says Russia acts inconsistently and illogically by imposing restrictions on imports.

“We should have expected, let's say, responsive actions. It would be hard to say it was not expected, but these steps lack logic and consistency,” the minister said to BNS news agency.

According to him, Russian president Vladimir Putin's actions contradict his words, ru.delfi.lt writes.

“President Putin recently said political instruments and economic measures of pressure are not acceptable running counter to norms and rules. We already know that and have experienced that when there were bans on our food products, cheese, dairy products or, say, on Moldavian wine, or Ukrainian chocolate, or Georgian mineral water. We remember that, but that was said by president Putin, so it means the arguments are pretty much clear that it should not be done for political motives," Linkevičius said.

The minister stressed the responsive sanctions would “hit people of Russia”.
