Angela Merkel: We support new sanctions against Russia

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel favours putting a new package of sanctions against Russia into effect.

She said it on Wednesday to the German parliament, Censor.net reports with a link to the Associated Press.

“We support these sanctions being published and I hope there will be a decision soon. The sanctions will go into effect when they're published,” she said. According to the German Chancellor, the situation in Ukraine improved, but there's no clarity on the implementation of the peace plan.

The Council of the European Union approved new sanctions against Russia on September 8.
