Poland stops reverse gas supplies to Ukraine due to Gazprom

Poland has halted reverse gas supplies to Ukraine.

The decision was taken due to the restrictions imposed by Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom, UNIAN cites Ihor Prokopiv, the chief executive officer of Ukrtransgaz.

“The Russian Federation has today begun to reduce gas supplies to Poland to restrict reverse supplies from Poland that we receive. At 14:00, Poland cut the reverse flow to Ukraine. It is almost 4 million cubic metres per day,” Prokopiv said.

Poland has said earlier today that gas supplies from Russia were reduced. The supply volume fell on September 8, 2014, when Poland received 20% less gas. The gas volume was down by 24% on September 9. It is unclear whether the reasons for the gas cut are technical or commercial.

Polish gas monopoly PGNiG says the decrease in gas supplies was recorded at checkpoints Drozdowiczy (on Ukrainian border), Kondratki and Wysokoje (on Belarusian border).
