Police raid home of independent journalist in Mahilou

Journalist Ales Burakou is accused of cooperating with foreign media.

The police came to the home of independent journalist Ales Burakou in Mahilou. They are searching the flat and making a police report, Radio Svaboda cites the freelance journalist.

“Seven men, three of them in police uniform, broke into my flat. They sent a woman to ring the bell. I opened the door, and they ran into the flat. I said I don't allow taking a video, but they continue filming. Major Uladzimir Puhachou is in charge of the group. I don't understand what they want. They say they allegedly saw articles on Deutsche Welle signed with my name,” Ales Burakou said.

Ales Burakou learnt from a district police officer in late August that the KGB department of the Mahilou region wanted to know how the journalist's article appeared on Belsat TV channel. The journalist was questioned and a police report was made.
