Paul Goble: Russia realizes “Ukrainain Scenario” in Baltic states

The Russian government is laying groundwork for a Ukrainian scenario in the Baltic states.

The main reason of the possible invasion to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is to protect the Russian-speaking population, writes in his article in The Interpreter a well-known American analyst Paul Goble.

He is sure that in the nearest future Moscow plans work to protect these members of “the Russian world,” the Russian-speaking population of the Baltic states, as the governments of those states are “mistreating” ethnic Russians, ru.DELFI.lv informs.

In his suppositions Goble mostly refers to the statements of Konstantin Dolgov, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special representative for human rights, democracy and the rule of law. He called upon Russian-speaking people of Latvia to carry out “a more active struggle for their rights”. The US analyst also quoted the interview shown by Latvian TV, telling about the danger of separatism in the country.

Goble finds this information extremely alarming.
