Kindergarten at full cost for all children over 6

Kindergarten at full cost for all children over 6

Vice Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Tozik has come up with another proposal how to empty Belarusians’ pockets.

If parents do not want their child to go to school at the age of 6, they are to pay the full cost for the stay of a child in a kindergarten.

“At the session of a working group on analysis of the educational system in Belarus the issue of establishing the optimal age of attending pre-school institutions. In the draft Educational Code it is offered to set the age of 6 as a limit,” Interfax-Zapad agency was told on Monday by the press-service of the Ministry of Education.

“The exception is children with medical conditions,” they added.

“We are going to discuss an opportunity to attend a pre-school institution at a wish parents whose children are aged 7, and who do not have such medical grounds, but they the full cost is to be paid then, as today, more than 30,000 of children aged 6-7 are staying in pre-school institutions, and only about 7,000 of them have medical grounds for that. As a result, difficulties with a new admission of children arise at pre-school groups, and additional expenses of the budget (Br 500 bn a year),” said Vice Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik at the session of the working group.

We remind that earlier Tozik offered to charge a fee for Belarusians who visit out-patient hospitals. He also was one of the authors of “a struggle against spongers”, and announced similar initiatives, however none of them have been implemented so far.
