There have been 80 attempts to smuggle banned goods from Belarus to Russia

Rosselkhoznadzor has detected another attempt to bring in banned vegetables and fruits from the EU to Russia through Belarus.

Three batches of peaches and nectarines with a marking of Spain, Chinese cabbage from Poland and some other vegetables have arrived from Belarus without phytosanitary and accompanying documents, Interfax informs with a reference to Rosselkhoznadzor.

As said by a representative of the agency, they inform their Belarusian colleagues about all violations. “We need completely precise information about goods which are cleared at the border of Belarus for deliveries to Russia,” he said. “Ideally, a system-level decision is required, and more specifically, implementation of electronic certification of imported goods and a tracking system.”

Rosselkhoznadzor has also stated that they intent to raise this issue in the framework of the Customs Union.

After Russia imposed a food products embargo, Rosselkhoznadzor recorded numerous attempts of illegal bringing in of plant products from the EU via the territory of Belarus. There have been more than 80 of such attempts.

Besides, there have been cases when products from the third countries are accompanied by phytosanitary certificates issued by the Quarantine and plant protection service of Belarus, and which certify its allegedly Belarusian origin.

Phytosanitary security checks of the imported goods found dangerous plant pests there.
