Homel resident hangs up banner on roof protesting against corruption

4

He thinks the construction of a block of flats nearby is carried out with numerous violations.

Activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski, who is known for his unusual ways of protests, hung up a banner on the roof of his house. The banner reads in Belarusian: “Pilipets is in jail, but his followers still work. I demand the fulfillment of presidential decree No.58. Stop corruption!”

He wrote the same text on the gates of his house, but was ordered to remove the inscription that spoilt the view of the street. The activist made a banner and fixed it to the roof so that it could be seen from the construction site. He thinks the construction works are carried out with numerous violations, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi reports.

“The works have been continuing for more than five years. Our property is in fact under arrest. The decision on the demolition of our houses gets prolonged every two years, the developer offers variants for resettlement for people, but it doesn't move further than the offers. We should have been resettled under presidential decre No.58,” the Homel resident says.
