Authorities ban one-man picket against war in Ukraine

They say a one-man picket against the war in Ukraine will distract attention of drivers and damage plants.

These reasons were named to explain the ban to Tatsiana Hrachanikava, charter97.org learnt from the press service of the For Freedom movement.

“Your application conflicts with article 9 of the Law on Mass Events,” the reply to the application for a picket says. The answer was signed by Karpenka, the deputy head of the Minsk city executive committee.

Officials think the “mass event” “can damage elements of landscaping and plants, create obstacles for pedestrians and vehicles, distract drivers' attention”.

Officials say the application didn't contain “concrete measures to ensure public order and safety during the mass event”.
