Kozik's resignation not accepted?

The Presidium of the Belarusian Trade Unions Federation did not accept the resignation of Leanid Tozik.

Leanid Kozik called the leadership of the Trade Union Federation on Monday and said he would resign, according to media. However, no official comments followed the announcement.

Henadz Fiadynich, the leader of the Electronics Trade Union, says the resignation of Leanid Kozik was not accepted, Salidarnasts writes.

“The Presidium of the Trade Union Federation did not accept it. Time will show how the situation will develop. It is the first time the federation head has announced his resignation without a plenary meeting or an ordinary congress.”

Henadz Fiadynich suggests his version why Leanid Kozik applied for resignation.

“The Trade Union Federation constructed many facilities and buildings. The Federation has its own forests for hunting and bee yards. It's good if everything is legal. If so, Leanid Kozik can be quiet.”

The head of the Electronics Trade Union criticises Leanid Kozik as the head of the Trade Union Federation since 2002.

“I think Leanid Kozik fulfilled the order of the head of state. He tamed the federation and deprived sector trade unions of independence. The system of employment agreements has been widened. I don't think people are happy about their wages. Workers haven't seen anything good from him,” Henadz Fiadynich says.

Siarhei Antusevich, the deputy head of the Belarusian Congress in Democratic Trade Unions, notes that Leanid Kozik harmed the trade union movement in the country.

“Most Belarusian workers were transferred to fixed-term employment agreements. Pressure on independent trade unions increased. Kozik made trade unions fully dependent on employers and top managers. I think Leanid Kozik did nothing good for trade unions. I cannot remember anything positive in his work for these years. He is an odious person for me who is known for his controversial initiatives as an MP and scandalous statements. Let's recall his proposal to introduce a special tax on men without children,” Siarhei Antusevich said.
