Lukashenka got scared of Russian oil price growth

The Belarusian regime will suffer significant financial losses due to Russia's tax maneuver.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka said it at a meeting with the council of the “house of representatives” on September 29.

Charter97.org learnt it from Lukashenka's press service.

“We sent a group of specialists headed by Uladzimir Siamashka to hold negotiations on the issue. If the Russian Federation takes this step, it will be a great problem for the functioning of the current Union. Firstly, we agreed on different things. Secondly, if steps in this directions are made, compensation is needed. This is big money that we mustn't lose,” Lukashenka said.

“If someone begins to rebuke us, let's say so: we founded the Customs Union and then the Eurasian Union, but let's build them on classical principles. Sometimes we lose something, but sometimes Russia and Kazakhstan lose something. But it is a classic organisation that doesn't tolerate any exemptions and restrictions,” Lukashenka noted. “Of course, it can be unprofitable for someone. But many things can be unprofitable for someone. We have agreed and we must implement the terms. This is our position.”

A bill proposing to amend the Tax Code to sharply decrease oil and oil products export duties and significantly increase the oil production tax was introduced to Russia's State Duma for consideration.

Belarusian oil refineries think the tax maneuver can lead to notable growth of Russian oil prices for Belarus.
