Ukrainian MFA: Militants thwart meeting in Minsk

Their representatives in fact refused to go to Minsk.

Another meeting of the trilateral contact group in Minsnk was thwarted by representatives of militants, Ukraine's foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin says, zn.ua reports.

“We have a clear agenda of the group meeting. But representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk were not ready to discuss in practice the implementation of the package of the Minsk agreements. The people who signed the Minsk Memorandum – Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky – were not ready to arrive in Minsk to define clearly what should be done for the stabilisation of the situation,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The Minsk meeting on December 9 also failed due to representatives of the DNR and LNR, the contact group says. The next meeting was to be held in late December, but it didn't take place.

The contact group involving Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE held a video conference with representatives of the DNR and the LNR on January 10, but there were no reports about any particular agreements.
