For a week prices for some goods in Minsk increased by 30 per cent

Prices of products related to "critical imports" increased by 0.8 -30 per cent.

This was reported by Nina Emelyanava, the head of the Department of Trade and Services of Minsk City Executive Committee, "Interfax" reports.

"Prices have risen over the past week from 0.8% to 30%. This applies to "critical imports" as fruits, vegetables, frozen fish, cereals, vegetable oil, tea, all those goods that we do not produce in Belarus", Emelyanova said at a press conference on Wednesday in Minsk.

However, she recalled that prices for domestic fruits and vegetables such as potato, carrot, cabbage, apples are set according to the decision of Minsk City Executive Committee. "The products of stab funds have a different schedule for pricing. Besides, a number of commercial enterprises may change product prices due to the completion of holiday sales", Emelyanava said.

According to her, audits of trading facilities of Minsk for a moratorium on price increase do not indicate mass violations.

"Daily monitoring that we carry out starting from the first decade of December do not detect such violations. Violation of the pricing order detected after citizens' complaints are rare", the representative of the City Committee noted.

If there is an unjustified price increase, trade enterprises implicitly return the difference in cost of goods. Every day we get 1 or 2 complaints against price increase in the shops", she added.
